Calli was transported to Children's Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.  We arrived around 1:00 p.m.  She was admitted into the NICU unit.

July 21,2005
Calli had her first surgery on July 21, 2005 on her Dad's birthday...7 1/2 long hours but what a great birthday gift when they finally came out and told us everything was ok, but she did go into what they call "heart block" so they might have to install a pacemaker.  Dr. Pettit is going to wait about a week to see if her heart will be able to do it on its own.  We was able to go see her in the PICU after she had been in recovery for an hour.

August 19, 2005

Did paradesis on the other side to see if the draining would decrease.  Seems to be doing ok.

Dr. Pettit came back from vacation.  What he told me when he walked in hit me like a ton of bricks!!  Says that in the week and a half that he had been gone, she really hasn't made any improvement.  She should have been off of the ventilator and her kidneys should be working better(they were not working at all).  I was just in shock!!  I thought we were on our way to the top, she had the procedures  done and the drainage was decreasing.  By that afternoon her chest and arms were not looking good at all, the blood was not perfusing well at all.  We did not give up hope!!

Dr. Pettit came in and told us that it was just a matter of time. It could be a few hours, a day or 5 days.  That we should spend as much time with her as we could.  At that point we just prayed harder because through all of this I dont think we ever stopped praying.  I prayed that if her life was going to be a life of misery, pain and suffering that we didnt want that for her!!  It was in the Lord's hands and for him to do what he sees was best for her.  About 4 hours later is when she went to be with the Lord.  We just held her for hours and told her how much we loved her.  To leave that hospital was the hardest thing I think I will ever have to do.

Went to be an angel with God on August 25, 2005 at 1:05 am.  One of our favorite nurses, Andrea, was there with us.  Calli  was baptised around 12:15 am. Her dad and I was able to hold her for only the third time in her short stay on this earth.  She fought to the very end!! How we miss her sooo much!
